How do I use the map?
The interactive map lives at whoismydentist.com/map, also linked as Map in the site header. It opens on a national view where each state shows a single pie chart summarizing the mix of ownership types in that state. Click a state, or zoom in, and the pie disperses into individual office pins colored by ownership type. Click any pin to open that office profile.
Reading the pins
- Green: independent private practice.
- Blue: multi-location private group practice.
- Orange: corporate-affiliated, backed by a DSO or private equity.
- Gray: unverified, ownership not yet confirmed from public data.
Filtering
The panel on the left narrows the map to one state, one ownership type, or one DSO. The legend on the right shows how many offices of each type are in view, and the search box finds an office by name, city, or practice. A graduation-cap marker is a dental school.
Sharing a view
Every filter is in the page address, so copying the URL shares exactly what you are looking at. The Share view button does the same with one click.
